CHARLIE FOSTER Mrs. Charlie Foster, 80, widow of Charlie Foster, died Monday morning at 2 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Claude Scog gins in Tryon. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Scoggins; four sons, Huey of Tryon; Jesse and W. B. of Lynn; and Vannie of Hick ory; three brothers, Wade Jack son, Weaverville; Theron Jackson, Washington, D. C. and Minter Jackson of Greenvlile, S. C.; two sisters. Mrs. Jarris McMurry and Mrs. Mary Dalton, Henderson ville; also 10 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Blackwell Engagement Announced By Parents Mr. and Mrs. John Searles Black well announce the engagement of their daughter, Dorothy Doubleday, to Lieutenant Morgan Curtis Boyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gray Boyd of Hopkinsville, Ky. Miss Blackwell, a student at the University of Kentucky, is a mem ber of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Lieutenant Boyd is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and is a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Lt. Boyd is on leave prior to active duty overseas. Miss Ruth McFarland has gone to Boone, N. C., for six weeks of summer school.
